A second man has been charged with the murder of a 17-year-old South Side youth last spring.
Keith Anthony, 24, of the 3800 block of West Cermak Road, was charged with the murder of Jalen Armstrong at 12:25 p.m. April 6 in the 800 block of East 81st Street in the Chatham neighborhood.
Anthony, who was arrested Friday at 7:40 a.m. in the 1900 block of South Pulaski Road, is a self-admitted gang member
Another man, Juan Robinson, has already been charged with Armstrong's murder. Robinson remains in custody after being ordered held without bail on Oct. 4.
Armstrong, who prosecutors said was not the intended target, was declared dead about an hour after the shooting.
During Robinson's October bond hearing, prosecutors said Armstrong and four other young men were walking on 81st Street when one of them saw Robinson walking toward them with a gun.
The one who saw Robinson told the others, "There goes Suicide and he has a gun," using Robinson's street name to warn them.
Robinson started shooting at the group, and they began running. A second attacker came onto the block and started firing at the group also.
Armstrong, of the 8000 block of South Ingleside Avenue, told the man he was with that he had been shot in the leg, and the man carried Jalen to the front of a store on Cottage Grove Avenue, prosecutors said. Armstrong lost consciousness there and died at Advocate Christ Medical Center.
