A 59-year-old pedestrian died early this morning after being struck Saturday in the Jeffery Manor neighborhood on the Far South Side.
The man, identified by the Cook County medical examiner's office as Morris Giles of the 9000 block of South Chappel Avenue, was struck about 8 a.m. Saturday morning by a truck making a left turn from South Jeffery Boulevard onto an eastbound lane of 95th Street.
He was rushed to Advocate Christ Medical Center in Oak Lawn, where he was pronounced dead at 2:36 a.m. Sunday.
Police cited the truck's driver, 63-year-old Robert Parks of the 9000 block of South Cornell Avenue, for failure to yield to a pedestrian and failure to exercise due care.
