Police are warning residents of the Wentworth and Grand Crossing police districts to stay alert after recent robberies in both South Side areas.
In the Wentworth District, victims have reported being robbed in the 4600 block of South St. Lawrence Avenue, the 4600 block of South Greenwood Avenue, the 4600 block of South Evans Avenue, and the 4800 block of South Drexel Boulevard.
In each of the cases, victims were approached by a single assailant, who was armed with a blue steel semiautomatic handgun.
Witnesses have described the assailants as male black being between 17 and 25 years old.
In the Grand Crossing District, armed assailants have approached victims in the area between South State Street and Cottage Grove Avenue, in the 6700 to 7400 blocks.
