A man in an SUV with his two adult sons was shot and wounded as he drove in the
Belmont Central neighborhood on the Northwest Side this morning.
The shooting happened about 5:25 a.m. in the 2800 block of North
Austin Avenue.
A black
four-door car pulled up next to the SUV and a passenger fired shots, hitting the
41-year-old man in the upper left leg. His sons, 18 and 20, were not injured.
The car sped off and
the SUV driver continued four blocks before pulling over to wait for paramedics. The man was taken to Advocate Illinois Masonic Medical Center, where
his condition was stabilized
