A West Rogers Park man has been charged with felony drunken-driving after severely
injuring an 87-year-old man in Uptown on Friday.
Michael Izeta, 26, was charged today with felony DUI resulting in serious
injury, and cited with striking a pedestrian, running a red light, and driving
without insurance or a driver’s license.
Izeta was expected to appear in Cook County Bond Court on Sunday.
The victim of the accident remains in critical condition at Advocate Illinois
Masonic Medical Center, police said. The accident happened about 7:05 a.m.
Friday in the 4700 block of North Broadway, police said. The 87-year-old was hit
as he tried to cross the street, and Izeta went through a red light.
The victim initially was taken to Advocate
Illinois Masonic Medical Center in serious-to-critical condition.
Officers were able to arrest
Izeta, of the 6100 block of North Damen Avenue, soon after the accident, in the
4700 block of North Racine Avenue
