A man who was killed when a dump truck hit him this morning in the Pilsen
neighborhood has been identified.
The pedestrian, identified by the Cook County medical examiner's office as
Gerardo Rodriguez, was struck about 8:30 a.m. in the 1400 block of West Cermak
Road on the West Side.
Rodriguez,48, of the 3500 block of West Armitage Avenue, suffered multiple
blunt trauma and was pronounced dead at 9:02 a.m. at John H. Stroger, Jr.
Hospital of Cook County.
The driver was issued citations and the accident was not a hit and run
