A 23-year-old woman who was a passenger in a vehicle when she was shot on Oct. 6
has died from her wounds.
Britney Colvin, of the 8500
block of South Parnell Avenue, was pronounced dead today, 14 days after being
shot in the face and shoulder.
The shooting happened at 11:08 p.m. on the 2700 block of West
62nd Street when a man came up and shot into a vehicle the woman was riding in.
Police earlier said
that Colvin was the passenger in a car that someone approached and fired into.
The female driver of the car had spoken with her son, who asked her to
pick him up at that location. When the driver arrived and stopped near a man who
looked like her son, he approached the car and started shooting, hitting Colvin.
The driver brought her passenger to Holy Cross Hospital, and she was
transferred to Advocate Christ Medical Center where she was pronounced dead.
