Chicago police shot a man who turned toward them with a gun while running early Saturday morning.
Police tried to stop the man they eventually shot, along with two others,
while they were walking on Marquette Boulevard west of Western Avenue in the
West Englewood neighborhood on the South Side.
Two took off running and police chased the third south on Campbell Avenue
into an east-west alley that connects Campbell with Artesian Avenue.
While running, the man swung his arm back, police said, while holding a
9-millimeter pistol in his hand, and police opened fire.
The man was taken to Advocate Christ Medical Center with a gunshot wound to
the hip and is expected to survive.
