A stray pit bull was shot and killed by a police officer because it was attacking
another dog and biting its owner this afternoon in north suburban Evanston.
The incident happened about 3 p.m. in the 1100 block of Oak Avenue.
Officers responded to a stray pit bull attacking another dog that was with
its owner, a woman, who was also attacked by the pit bull while trying to
separate the dogs.
She was bitten in the leg, but not hospitalized.
Officers saw the violent behavior of the pit bull at which time an officer
shot the dog prevent any further attack by the pit bull
