Police say a 32-year-old Englewood neighborhood man fled police and crashed
into a marked squad car after they tried to pull him over for a traffic
violation.
Shawn James, of the 7100 S. Lowe in Chicago, was charged with aggravated
fleeing, possession of less than 2.5 grams of cannabis, driving under the
influence, driving with a revoked driver’s license and no insurance, damage to
public property and driving without headlights.
James took off from police and ran into an evidence technician’s car after
running a stop sign in the 7600 block of South Union Avenue about 9:25 p.m.
Wednesday. The technician was not involved with the initial
incident.
An officer was treated and released from an area hospital for injuries
sustained in the crash.
