A 43-year-old man died in a Logan Square fire early Saturday morning.
The fire broke out about 1:40 a.m. in the 1600 block of
North Central Park Avenue
A spokeswoman for the Cook County medical examiner's office identified the
man as Jaime Martinez. He lived where he died. He was pronounced dead just after
2 a.m. at St. Mary and Elizabeth Medical Center.
He suffered second- and third-degree burns and severe smoke inhalation.
A second man about the same age was taken to the
same hospital in fair condition.
Officials aren't yet sure
what caused the fire, which appeared to have originated in the back of the
three-story frame building.
