34-year-old shot dead in Englewood

A  34-year-old southwest suburban man who was in the city to celebrate his brother's birthday Friday was shot to death about 11:30 p.m. Friday on an Englewood street.
A dark SUV heading east on 71^st Street pulled up on the 7100 block of Eggleston Avenue and someone inside opened fire south on 71st, hitting Lafayette Johnson as he stood between a Ford Taurus and an SUV. He lived in the 2600 block of West 89^th Street in Evergreen Park and died where he fell.
