A 61-year-old woman standing on a street corner was seriously wounded when she was
“caught in the crossfire’’ in the South Shore neighborhood.
The woman was shot around 1:40 p.m. at
73rd and Coles streets. She was taken to Northwestern Memorial Hospital with a gunshot wound to
the abdomen and was reported stable.
Witnesses told police she was an
innocent bystander.
A
second person was taken to a hospital from the scene, but Chicago Fire
Department spokesman Kevin MacGregor did not know why. That person was taken to
Saint Bernard Hospital and Health Care Center with minor injuries
