Authorities are seeking a masked man in his mid to late teens who broke into
a home on the Near West Side and sexually assaulted a woman inside Sunday
morning.
A burglar alarm activated about 6:50 a.m. in the 2700 block of West Adams
Street and officers went to the scene and found the 34-year-old victim inside a
home with the door open, sobbing.
She said the attacker broke in, bound her legs and arms, and sexually
assaulted her while armed with a kitchen knife. He threatened to kill her if she
tried to get away. He went through her wallet and ripped her engagement ring
from her finger.
He was wearing a multicolored mask and white “dirty” mittens or gloves, both
of which he did not remove during the assault.
The alarm activated when the suspect fled after taking the engagement ring
off her finger and going through her wallet but not taking cash inside it,.
She told investigators that she could not see his face but his voice sounded
“childish,’’
