A pregnant woman and a male were each shot late Wednesday night in the Lawndale
neighborhood on the city's West Side.The shooting occurred in the 1600
block of South Hamlin Avenue at about 11:10 p.m.
The woman, 22, and the 16-year-old boy were standing in front of a home in
the 1600 block of South Hamlin Avenue, when a gunman inside a passing white
minivan opened fire just before 11:10 p.m..
The woman, whose pregnancy was described as full term, suffered a graze wound
to the chest and boy hit in the left arm.
A short time later, police arrested the driver of a white Plymouth Voyager
less than a mile from the shooting.
The woman, who lives in Gary, Ind., was taken to Mount Sinai Hospital, where
doctors determined that her unborn child hadn't been harmed in the shooting. Her condition was described as good.
The woman's unborn child didn't appear injured in the shooting, though
doctors were awaiting further tests, a source said.The boy was taken to John H.
Stroger Hospital
