A southwest suburban girl who was shot in the head early Saturday while inside a
vehicle on the South Side has died.
Taylor Diorio, 17,
of the 10800 block of Major Avenue in Chicago Ridge, was pronounced dead at 3:29
p.m. at Mount Sinai Hospital.
The victim was shot in the head at 5:05 a.m. in the 2100 block
of West 35th Street while she was inside a vehicle with others.
“An unknown male offender shot into the
vehicle’’. No one else inside the vehicle was wounded.
The
driver told police she was westbound on 35th Street while Diorio was seated in
the front passenger seat when they and three other people in the car heard 4-5
gunshots and realized Diorio had been shot in the head.
Another female in the car jumped out and fled in an unknown
direction while the motorist drove Diorio to Mount Sinai Hospital.
Police were investigating an allegation that the gunman and
someone in the car might have had an earlier altercation.
