Two recent guests of a downtown Marriott have died after contracting
Legionnaires’ disease.
Those are among eight cases of Legionnaires’ in people who
stayed at the JW Marriott, 151 W. Adams St., between mid-July and
mid-August.
None of the eight people who contracted the disease live in,
or are being treated in, the Chicago area.
Hotel officials and the Chicago Department of Public Health
announced three cases of the disease but no fatalities last Tuesday. At the
time, hotel officials had mailed letters notifying about 65 percent of the 8,500
guests who stayed at the hotel between July 16 and Aug. 15.
