One man was killed and a man and woman were injured in a shooting that
occurred early Sunday in the East Garfield Park neighborhood.
The shooting happened at 12:55 a.m. on the 3100 block of West Van Buren
Street.
Several people were in a park when someone fired shots and struck the three
people.
A 22-year-old man was shot in the head and pronounced dead on the scene.
The man was identified as Demarcus Ervin of the 200 North Lockwood Avenue.
A 27-year-old man sustained a gunshot wound to a leg in the same incident and
was taken to John H. Stroger, Jr. Hospital of Cook County.
The third victim of the shooting, a 21-year-old woman, was shot in the hand
and took herself to Norwegian-American Hospital where her condition had
stabilized
