A Chicago man is charged with bursting into a motel room on Chicago’s
Southwest Side and robbing a prostitute of $90 after threatening to rape and
kill her.
Terry Edwards, 29, was arrested early Saturday
morning at the Aloha Motel at 8515 South Cicero Avenue along Chicago’s border
with Burbank.
On Sunday, Cook County Judge Israel Desierto ordered Edwards held on $250,000
bond on charges of battery and home invasion.
Authorities said the alleged victim, a 21-year-old from Wausau, Wis., met
another prostitute in the motel lobby. They became friends and retired to a
motel room.
After a few hours, Edwards – the boyfriend of the prostitute who befriended
the alleged victim – came into the room. He punched the
alleged victim in the arm, threw her on the bed, climbed on top of her, fondled
her and threatened to rape and kill her if she didn’t give him money.
Edwards, of the 7500 block of South Union Avenue, took $90 and went to
another room with his girlfriend, police said. The pair blocked the door, but
officers, using keys provided by the manager, forced their way in.
Edwards has a lengthy criminal record, including convictions for aggravated
robbery and kidnapping
