Police are warning the public after two armed robberies in the Wrightwood
neighborhood on the Southwest Side earlier this week.
Two brothers, 15 and 18, were in an alley about 5
p.m. Tuesday in the 3100 block of West 80th Street when a man robbed
the younger one.
This offender emerged from the mouth of an alley and displayed a BB gun and
demanded everything from the victim
The teen complied and the robber fled but the older brother began chasing the
man, who drew the gun and fired several pellets. No one was struck.
The second robbery happened late Thursday about 11 p.m. on a sidewalk in the
7900 block of South Kedzie Avenue.
An 18-year-old man was walking south while texting on his phone when the
robber confronted him brandishing what appeared to be a handgun. "He demanded
the man's phone and valuables and the victim complied,.
The victim was not harmed and the robber, described
as being 5 feet 9 inches to 6 feet 2 inches tall and between the ages of 17 and
23, fled on foot. The robber weighs about 155 pounds and has dreadlocks.
