The downtown shooting happened around 12:30 a.m. just off Michigan Avenue. A
31-year-old man was standing next to his car when someone in an SUV pulled up,
asked him what "he was about" and shouted a gang slogan and opened fire.
The SUV, gray or silver, almost hit a Streets and Sanitation tow
truck as it sped west on Ontario and south on Rush Street. The tow truck driver
radioed a description of the SUV.
The man was taken to Northwestern
Memorial Hospital with a gunshot wound to the abdomen. He was
in critical condition.
