A judge today upheld a no bond warrant already in place for a man charged with
fatally shooting a Skokie man on the West Side in January
Judge Donald Panarese ordered 20-year-old Desmond Young held on
the no bond warrant.
Young has been in custody since the shooting,
and was initially charged only with unlawful use of a weapon.
Young, of the 4700 block of West Jackson Boulevard, was
charged with murder.
He is accused of fatally shooting the
victim, identified by the Cook County medical examiner’s office as 44-year-old
Olufeimi Abdulai, at 12:24 p.m. Jan. 6 in the 4400 block of West Monroe Street.
Abdulai, of
the 8200 block of Keeler Avenue in Skokie, died later that day at 2:32 p.m. at
John H. Stroger Jr. Hospital of Cook County.
An autopsy performed Jan. 8 determined he died of multiple
gunshot wounds and his death was ruled a homicide,
