Police fired one shot this morning at a man who refused to drop a handgun on the
West Side.
No one was hit but that man and another were placed under
arrest.
It happened at 10:24 a.m. in the 4200 block of West Jackson
Boulevard when a narcotics unit conducting an investigation ran across a man
they wanted to talk to.
When police approached him, they found the 19-year-old was
brandishing a black semiautomatic handgun.
When officers ordered him to
drop it, he failed to, causing an officer to fire one shot toward him.
The bullet did not hit anyone but the 19-year-old dropped his
gun and he was arrested.
Police recovered the handgun and narcotics on
him, said Andrews. A 20-year-old man who was with him also was placed under
arrest for narcotics-related offenses.
They have not been charged as of
early afternoon
