Two men were killed and three other people were wounded in a shooting in the
Back of the Yards neighborhood this afternoon.
The shooting took place
shortly before 5 p.m. in the 5100 block of South May Street. A police spokesman confirmed
the shooting took place about 4:41 p.m.
Two men were dead on arrival
after being taken by ambulance to John
H. Stroger Jr. Hospital of Cook County. A third person was
taken by ambulance in serious-to-critical condition to Stroger, while a fourth
victim was driven to Stroger by a family member.
A
fifth person, who was shot in the hand, was driven by someone to Provident
Hospital of Cook County.
The dead men were ages 22 and 26. Of the two
injured people taken to Stroger, one was shot in both arms and the other was
shot in the buttocks.
UPDATE:
The two men who died – 22-year-old Rashaun Stephany and 26-year-old Mario
Jackson – both lived nearby. They were pronounced dead at John H. Stroger Jr.,
Hospital of Cook County about 5:30 p.m. and both suffered multiple gunshot
wounds to the chest
