Chicago police this morning said they apprehended a gunman they shot and
wounded during a foot chase across a Southwest Side neighborhood.
No officers were were injured during the incident that began with Officers from
the Chicago
Lawn police district trying to interview several males gathered in the 3100
block of West 84th Place in the Wrightwood neighborhood just before 10 p.m.
Wednesday.
One of the males ran and pointed a handgun at the pursuing officers twice.
The gunman was wounded after pointing his weapon at Officers the second time, but
continued to flee until he was taken into custody in a rear yard.
The man was taken to an area hospital, but his condition wasn't immediately
known. Police confirmed that they recovered a handgun.
