A woman was shot in the chest during an argument with her ex-boyfriend over
babysitting chores in the East
Garfield Park neighborhood on the West Side.
The shooting happened about 11:15 p.m. Monday behind a home in the 700 block
of North Harding Avenue.
A 26-year-old woman was driving through an alley outside the home of a
relative of her ex-boyfriend and father of her child.
The woman spotted the man sitting on a rear porch, pulled up and yelled,
"When are you going to babysit?".
The 24-year-old man stood up, pulled a handgun and fired at the woman. The woman drove off and stopped blocks away and contacted authorities. She
was taken to a hospital in serious condition.
The
ex-boyfriend is not in custody.
