A 15-year-old boy is being held by police after two bystanders caught him as he
tried to escape a North Side “L” station following the robbery of a woman on a
Red Line train this morning.
The woman, age 25, was riding a
Red Line train about 10:10 a.m. when the boy grabbed her cell phone and ran off
the train at the Sheridan stop, 3940 N. Sheridan Road.
The woman gave chase, and the teen fought
her off, pushing her to the ground.
The teen then tried to
run from the station, but was caught by two Good Samaritans, who held him until
police arrived.
The woman suffered minor injuries to her hand
and neck.
Strong-arm robbery charges are pending against the
boy
