At about 1:25 a.m. Sunday, a man was killed in the 1300 block of West 13th
Street in the University Village neighborhood. He was in a car
with another man and stepped out when someone started shooting at him, hitting him in the back and armpit. He ran from 13th Street a short block
north through a park to rows of townhomes before collapsing near Washburne
Avenue, where police found him.
He was pronounced dead at John H. Stroger, Jr. Hospital of Cook County,
police said. Nobody is in custody.
Police found shell casings on 13th Street. A silver Chevy Impala with bullet
holes in the passenger side doors and a flat rear tire was a block south of
where the shooting happened, at the corner of Throop and Hastings streets, under
two security cameras: one attached to the south end of a townhome and the other
a Chicago
Police Department blue-light camera
