A 12-year-old boy was shot and killed Saturday night while he was walking to
his home on the Southeast Side.
The boy was walking from a neighborhood store when someone approached about
10:05 p.m. and shot him in the head, as he neared his home in the 8000 block of
South Brandon Avenue.
The boy was dead on the scene.
UPDATE:
The boy was outside of his home playing with other children on the block when
his father called over to him to come inside
At about that time, two people emerged from a gangway, one of them pulled a
handgun and opened fire. The boy was shot in the head and died at
the scene.
It's unclear whether the boy was targeted.

The boy, Nazia Banks, was playing with other children outside of his home
just after 10 p.m. in the 8000 block of South Brandon Avenue in the South
Chicago neighborhood when his father called over to him to come inside.
At about that time, two people emerged from a gangway and one of them pulled
a handgun and opened fire, police said. Nazia was shot in the head and died at
the scene
