A man is being questioned following the death of a 2-year-old girl who was found unresponsive Saturday on the South Side with what police said appeared to be human bite marks and bruises.
The girl, Armani Cotton, was pronounced dead at Saint Bernard Hospital and Health Care Center at 4:42 p.m.
Chicago police are conducting a death investigation. The case hasn't been classified a homicide.
The girl was found inside a home on the 5500 block of South Emerald Avenue in the Englewood neighborhood Saturday afternoon. She lived in the 1800 block of East 72nd Street in the South Shore neighborhood.
The child had numerous signs of trauma, the medical examiner's spokeswoman said, and is scheduled for an autopsy today.
Paramedics responded at 4:28 p.m. Saturday to the Emerald Avenue address and they took the child in serious condition to Saint Bernard.

Devell M. Johnson, 23, of the 5500 block of South Emerald Avenue, is charged with first-degree murder, according to Tandra Simonton
