Bullets came through a wall of a home and struck a sleeping child in the head and the youngster’s mother in the West Pullman neighborhood on the Far South Side early Thursday.
The woman and her 1-year-old daughter were asleep in a back bedroom about 1:20 a.m. when someone fired shots into the residence and struck them in the 11900 block of South Calumet Avenue.
The 1-year-old girl was struck in the head and her condition has been upgraded to serious.
Her mother, 24, suffered a gunshot wound to the leg or hip and is in good condition. They were both taken to Advocate Christ Medical Center in Oak Lawn.
