A man was found shot to death in the Washington Heights neighborhood on the Far South Side this afternoon.
The man, believed to be in his 30s, was dead on the scene in the 9600 block of South Carpenter Street.
Police were called to Carpenter Street about 12:40 p.m. after someone called 911 because of shots fired in the area. Officers found the man, shot at least twice and unresponsive
UPDATE:
The man, Erik Loggins, 40, was dead on the scene in the 9600 block of South Carpenter Street, according to a spokesman for the Cook County medical examiner's office. Loggins lived steps away from where he was slain.
