UPDATE:
A man shot to death on a Rogers Park street this week was on parole in the 2009 shooting of a 9-year-old boy less than a block away from the man’s slaying.
James Brown, 22, of the 3200 block of North Central Park Avenue, was fatally shot in the 6800 block of North Ashland Avenue about 2:05 p.m. on Thursday.
Brown pleaded guilty Jan. 5, 2011, to aggravated battery in the shooting of the boy, who was walking with his family June 26, 2009, in the 6700 block of North Ashland when Brown rode up on a bicycle about 11 p.m., prosecutors said at the time.
