South Side detectives are warning businesses in the Grand Crossing Police District of recent armed robberies by two men.
One of the robberies happened April 4, about 2:55 p.m. at a grocery store in the 2200 block of East 71st Street.
In the robberies, at least one robber has entered a business and announced a robbery while displaying a gun. Several guns have been used in the robberies, including a blue steel revolver, a stainless steel a revolver, a shotgun and a TEC-9 assault-style rifle.
The robberies have taken place this month between 6600 south and and 7200 south, between Stony Island Avenue and Jeffery Boulevard.
One man who has been involved at least one of the robberies is described as black, standing between 5-foot-6 and 5-foot-8 and weighing between 180 and 250 pounds. In at least one robbery he wore a green baseball cap and a green face mask and carried a shotgun. The second man was black, stood about 6 feet tall, weighed between 220 and 260 pounds and had dark clothing and a face mask.
