Chicago police fired shots at a suspect who fled from officers before colliding with another squad car this morning on the city's West Side.
No officers were injured in the collision, or when officers fired on the suspect following the end of the pursuit in the 1200 block of North Lavergne Avenue in the North Austin neighborhood just after midnight.
The motorist was taken into custody.
Police said the motorist fled from Shakespeare District officers who tried to curb the vehicle near the intersection of North and Grand avenues.
The mile-long pursuit ended with the suspect's vehicle collided with another squad car on North Lavergne, said Officer Amina Greer.
In the moments after the crash, officers fired, but the motorist wasn't shot.
The officers chased down the motorist down several blocks away to the 4900 block of West Augusta Boulevard, where they took him into custody
