A 6-year-old girl was wounded by a stray bullet on the Far South Side last week when a 15-year-old boy pulled out a gun and started shooting following a dispute over a bet on a basketball game the boy was playing.
The boy was charged today as an adult with aggravated battery with a firearm in the shooting about 7:10 p.m. Thursday near a play lot in the 13200 block of South St. Lawrence Avenue. Police did not release the boy’s name because he is a juvenile.
The girl suffered a graze wound to the right thigh. She was treated at MetroSouth Medical Center.
The boy was playing basketball with a group of other boys when they got into a dispute over a wager, police said. The boy took out a pistol and began shooting, apparently missing his intended target but striking the girl
