Two people were shot on the 7700 block of South Carpenter Street about 8:55 p.m., police said. A 16-year-old boy was shot in the left cheek and left side of the chest and was taken to Advocate Christ Medical Center in good condition. A man he was with, 19, suffered a graze wound to the ear and is in good condition at Saint Bernard Hospital.
They were standing on a corner with several other people when someone pulled a gun and started shooting at them from an alley. Police said the two weren't cooperative and didn't self-identify as gang members but police believe the shooting was gang-related.
