One dead following Lawndale police shooting

Police shot and killed a theft suspect in the Lawndale neighborhood on the West Side late Sunday.
Police responded to a call of a theft in progress at a building in the 1500 block of South Kostner Avenue about 11:50 p.m..
Ogden District officers were confronted by the suspect in an unoccupied building.
When the officers attempted to perform a protective pat down, the suspect removed a handgun from his waistband. A struggle between the subject and an officer ensued and the officers discharged their weapons, fatally striking the suspect.
An unidentified man in his 40s was pronounced dead on the scene at 1:15 a.m..
Police union spokesman Pat Camden said the responding officers were searching the area outside the abandoned building when one officer ran across a suspect who had a "bag of proceeds'' from the building.
The officer began to take him into custody and while he was patting him down, he felt a handgun in the suspect’s waistband, Camden said.
They struggled, both reaching for it at the same time.
“At this point the cop draw his gun and shoots the offender before he can get to his gun freely,’’ Camden said.
The suspect was dead on the scene, Camden said.
The officers were not injured and a weapon was recovered on the scene.

He was harmless and his live was taken by one of many CPD CORRUPT OFFICERS if a gun was recovered they planted it there. They killed my uncle for no reason senseless crime and they continue to take innocent people lives. They are suppose to SERVE & PROTECT yeah right nothing but crooks.

This is so senseless, I have known the Bradley family since the mid sixties, to label Eric a bad guy is incorrect. I do not believe that he had a gun let alone stuggled with an officer of the law...... My heart and prayers go out to the Bradley family in this most difficult time. Debra Reynolds Robinson.

If an officer is doing a protective pat down. How could he still shoot a person 8 times?

This sounds false. One shot is self defense but 2 shots to the head and multiple shots in other places is over kill and anger! These was not innocent cops who cornered a criminal but everyone in the neighborhood no what this was! This was in fact a harmless man who wouldnt hurt ANYONE.

NO,how about u suck one!OK he did drugs,I'm. quite sure a drug user is in your family.yeah he stole things out of abandoned buildings,he didn't break in anyone house.I'm a law abiding citizen n I don't use drugs n I'm not saying all cops are no good, but what happened the night Mr.Bradley was killed was an injustice to him,his family, the community n anybody else that a tragedy like this has happened to.

Mr. Eric Bradley wouldn't have had a gun. He wouldn't have struggled with an officer of the law. This is
all a big lie.The officer or officers who executed this man need to be brought to justice.I've known rick since 1964 and i KNOW that he didn't have a violent bone in his body. The independent police review authority needs to take more than just a cursory look at the evidence and I'm sure that if they do,they will come to the same conclusion that everyone who knew Ricky did-that these rogue police officers killed an innocent man and then planted a weapon.
