Two men in a black pickup truck tried to abduct two young girls and possibly others this week in the Englewood neighborhood.
A 13-year-old girl and her younger sister were walking eastbound on 65th Street from Halsted Street about 8 a.m. Monday when the driver, headed westbound, stopped his truck, asked the girl her name and ordered her to get into the vehicle.
The girl and her sister ran to school and told an adult.
Several other girls walking to school Monday morning were approached by what appeared to be the same pickup truck, in which the driver slowed down, said hello and asked their names.
Police give descriptions for the driver and a passenger who was in the truck.
The community alert describes the driver as a black man, 35-40, with a large build and a large stomach, a light complexion and dark brown hair worn naturally. He was last seen wearing a white T-shirt with black paint splatters.
The passenger was described as a black man, 35-40, with a slim build, dark complexion and a deformity to the left side of his mouth, according to the alert.
The vehicle was described as an older-model black pickup truck with a bed cover, and an unknown temporary registration affixed to the rear, toward the bottom.
Anyone with information is asked to call Area South detectives at 312-747-8271.
