A man who had just robbed a Near North Side bank was arrested in the Red Line subway this morning after a dye pack exploded,.
The dye pack went off at the Chicago Avenue stop after the man had robbed the North Community Bank at 800 N. State St. The suspect was later arrested at the Clark and Division, holding a bag covered with dye.“Eagle-eyed’’ officers spotted him “trying to blend in’’ as he was coming up the subway stairs at Clark and Division and arrested.
The suspect was identified by the tellers at the bank,.
The robber, wearing a blue jacket, had walked into the bank around 11 a.m., according to FBI spokeswoman Joan Hyde. She did not know if he was armed.
