At about 2 a.m., a 23-year-old man was shot in the body on the 1600 block of North Spaulding Avenue.
The man shot on Spaulding Avenue was in a car with two other people.
The three drove to St. Elizabeth Hospital and tried to get help from a private ambulance. That hospital doesn't have a trauma center.
A Chicago Fire Department ambulance took the man to Stroger Hospital, where he remains in critical condition
UPDATE:
A Chicago Fire Department ambulance took the man to Stroger Hospital, where he was pronounced dead at 12:02 p.m., according to a spokesman for the Cook County medical examiner's office.
The man was identified as George Dunn
