Two teens on their way to school were shot this morning in a vacant lot in the West Englewood neighborhood on the South Side.
The boys, ages 15 and 16, were walking through the lot in the 6700 block of South Wood Street about 7:40 a.m. when two other teens approached. One of them pulled out a gun and opened fire.
The 15-year-old was shot in the side and taken to Comer Children's Hospital. The 16-year-old was hit in the thigh and taken to Advocate Christ Medical Center in Oak Lawn. Fire officials said their conditions were stable.
One of the suspects had his hair in dreadlocks and was wearing a dark hoodie and khaki pants. The other was wearing dark clothing
