Just before 11 p.m. two teens were sitting on a porch with several others in the 3000 block of South St. Louis Avenue, when a lone gunman approached and opened fire.
A 17-year-old boy suffered a graze wound to the head and was taken to Mount Sinai Hospital.
A 19-year-old man, later identified as Johnny Vargas, of the 2400 block of South Central Park Avenue, was struck twice in the abdomen and was taken to Stroger Hospital, where he was pronounced dead
