The incident happened at 6 p.m. on the 1400 block of West 79th Street in the Gresham neighborhood.
The people were shot in the Bishop Golden Store, 1443 W. 79th Street, and one of the victims died.
The victims range in age from 16 to 25 years old. Four of the shot were in critical condition, the condition of the fifth person was not available. The sixth person was pronounced dead at the scene.
Two of the people were taken to Advocate Christ Medical Center, two were token to John H. Stroger, Jr. of Cook County and the fifth victim was taken to Holy Cross Hospital.

The deceased victim was 22 years old.

Police said two gunmen with hooded sweatshirts entered the store and almost immediately opened fire. One of the shooters was using a TEC 9-type gun.
The shooters fled the scene in a vehicle last seen heading north on Bishop Street, a street right near the store.
The vehicle was later abandoned near 76th Street and Ashland Avenue, and police believe the shooters fled in another vehicle.
Police said at least one of the six victims may have been selling drugs in or around the store earlier in the day.
