A Blue Island man is scheduled to appear in court today on DUI charges after his SUV struck and killed a man unloading a beer truck in Chicago's Morgan Park neighborhood Monday.
Walter Thompson, 30, of the 129000 block of Page Court in Blue Island, was charged with two counts of aggravated driving under the influence.
He had previously been cited for DUI, driving on a revoked/suspended license, as well as three separate tickets for leaving the scene of an accident.
Charles Kimbrough, 45, and a co-worker were unloading the truck in the 1400 block of West 115th Street around 3 p.m. when a 2006 Hyundai Santa Fe struck a 1997 Ford Aerostar.
The car then hit Kimbrough, pinning him against a CTA bus that had stopped to pick up passengers.
Kimbrough was pronounced dead at 3:53 p.m. at Advocate Christ Medical Center in Oak Lawn.
Three people, including the bus' driver and a passenger, were hospitalized with minor injuries.
