Wheaton man found dead in West Side gangway

The body of a 51-year-old Wheaton man was discovered in a West Side gangway this morning, the apparent victim of foul play.
A woman found the man's body at about 2 a.m. in the gangway between two abandoned buildings in the 4600 block of West Monroe Street in the West Garfield Park neighborhood.
The woman's "hysterical" screams alerted alerted neighbors and eventually police.
The man, later identified as Lionel Lane, of the 700 block of West Liberty Drive in the western suburb, was pronounced dead at the scene, according to the Cook County medical examiner's office.
