Police warn of robberies near CTA Green Line, bus stops

Chicago police issued a community alert warning of a pattern of armed robberies at or near stops along the CTA's Green Line in the West Side Austin neighborhood.
While police didn't say how many robberies they've tied to the pattern, the alert stated that victims were usually approached while they are riding, exiting, or walking home from the CTA Green Line, or waiting at a bus stop.
The robbers, which include up to four males, either beat their victims with their fists or they displayed a handgun and demanded their purses, wallets, money, jewelry, computers, or cell phones, police said.
The alert reminds residents to be aware of their surroundings and asks them to report any suspicious individuals loitering near the Green Line or bus stops.
