A woman's burning body was found in a garage in the Uptown neighborhood this morning, and police were considering the case a homicide.
The woman’s body was found on fire in a garage in the 5000 block of North Clark Street about 9:53 a.m., said Chicago Police News Affairs Officer Veejay Zala. The woman appeared to have been slain, and police were considering the case a homicide.
She was identified this evening as Maria Santiago, 54, of the same address where she was found, according to the Cook County medical examiner's office.
Firefighters were called to a fire in a garage in an alley east of Clark Street at that time, and found the body. The fire was put out, and the investigation turned over to police
