Chicago police discovered a woman who may have been beaten lying on the street in the city's North Austin neighborhood.
Officers found the woman, believed to be about 48, in the front yard of a home in the 5100 block of West North Avenue at about 11:50 p.m. Monday, police said. They initially stated the woman was found a block away on LeMoyne street.
The woman later told police that she'd been hit over the head with a blunt instrument by an unknown person.
The woman also suffered two black eyes, cuts to her face and forehead and an injury to her jaw, police said. She was taken to Mount Sinai Hospital in serious condition.
