Man, 71, struck with bottle and robbed by 3

A 71-year-old man was hospitalized early this morning after he was struck over the head by a bottle and robbed on the South Side.
The robbery happened just after midnight on the 7100 block of South State Street.
The man was at the intersection of 71st and State Streets when three males came up to him and at least one of them struck him over the head with a bottle.
After the man was hit, he lost consciousness and when he awoke a short time later, he discovered that his wallet, money and other items had been taken.
The man was taken to St. Bernard Hospital and Health Care Center, where his condition had stabilized.
